MegaDeck Case Study

This product proved its worth on a 9-mile temporary roadway and 30,000 sq. ft. platform in the Chesapeake Bay backwaters. The Utility Construction Services of Elkton, Maryland chose this product when planning for this 9-mile transmission line repair and replacement project in the backwaters of the Chesapeake Bay. Limited access and changing tidewaters made this project very challenging.

MegaDeck HD

MegaDeck HD was used to build the roads through the marsh, placing the mats in 1-mile increments. At the end of the road, a 30,000 sq. ft. platform was created to support more than 500,000 lbs of equipment to install a new 220 ft monopole. The platform was installed less than 30 ft from the Nanticoke River.

The platform was not only strong, but very stable with a fleet of bucket trucks, cranes, and loaders to replace the electrical transmission tower. Utility Construction Services used almost 2,000 MegaDeck mats on this project for the electrical utility AUI Power in the Mid-Atlantic.
